Coffee in the morning is a general rule:
Adulting comes with a wakeup call from a mug and a jolt of caffeine daily.
Although I did try Blue Mountain's Gold Coffee Reserve last year, I never mentioned the fact it is (to me) very smooth, red-toned in color, and reminds me of tea. That's not a bad thing if you like tea. (I like tea.) That's not what this post is about, though, no - this post is about the fact I have completely obliterated my stash of pre-measured coffee pods and am now solely sipping what I can brew from bagged grounds.
Utilizing an off-brand reusable coffee pod has its ups and downs. Constantly having to clean it isn't a bad thing, but forgetting it is in the coffee maker when your mind is on other things can be a pain the next morning when you realize "oh... right, I forgot" and have to manage cleaning the reusable pod BEFORE your first cup can be brewed.
I'm sure anyone who has a reusable coffee pod has left it sitting at least once.
So I found these in (you guessed it) Wal-Mart the other day: Evri-Cafe Disposable Coffee Pod Filters, 50 pack. I broke it down on my handy-dandy calculator and, before tax, each little filter would cost me a simple o.108 cents per cup brewed. I went ahead and purchased it, noting that it does state they are compatible with most reusable brewing pods.
Verdict?
Yeah.
No. Most means not all, and I already knew that - but I was very not awake this morning and needed to wake up before I could understand I was not thinking clearly.
While I did what I had to do because I was very not caffeinated yet, I do not advise anyone place their disposable coffee pod filter into a single-serve coffee maker without the reusable coffee pod surrounding it. Tomorrow morning? Because there are 49 disposable coffee pod filters left, I will attempt to trim the excess and see how things go.
No single-serve coffee makers were harmed in the making of my preferred morning beverage. (See? I told you it was red-toned in color!)
Edit: If you'd like to see if they made the grade after alterations, here's Part Two.
