Remember when I said I was completely done with these specific Evri-Cafe disposable coffee pod filters once this box ran out? Well, grab your morning mug, because we have an unexpected development in the coffee parameters department.
About three days ago, I was pulling out the next batch of filters from the stack, bracing myself to do the usual scissor-trim routine to make the top close flush. I looked down and noticed something strange: the lip of the filters actually became shorter the deeper I got into the box.
I don't know if the manufacturing machine had a change of heart halfway through production, or if the top of the stack was just stretched out, but I decided to test a raw one.
Guess what? Zero trimming required.
They fit into my reusable pod perfectly right out of the box, leaving just enough edge to handle without causing a ground-floating disaster.
Why I'm Celebrating (and Sticking with Loose Grounds)
Now that the scissor hassle is entirely out of the window, it reminds me why I truly love utilizing loose grounds just as much as pre-measured pods. Going the loose-ground route with these filters gives me two massive wins for my morning routine:
Total Flavor Control: I can measure my scoops precisely, layer my roasts, and blend my flavor profiles exactly how I want them without being locked into a standard pod factory setting.
100% Compostable Mornings: One of the absolute best features of these paper filters is that they are entirely compostable. When the brew is finished, the spent grounds and the filter can go straight into the bin together—no plastic waste, no scrubbing out micro-mesh holes, and no environmental guilt.
And, when I get back into the swing of gardening again (Spring 2027, crossing fingers), I can amend the soil instead of throwing them away!
It just goes to show that, sometimes, you really do have to give things a second chance to see how they pan out! I'll be happily cruising through the rest of this box without the extra grunt work.
Until the next brew,
-- Mathie Tremas.
P.S. Because I am still having such a very hard time finding this specific brand online anywhere without constantly finding things that do not have an image attached? I'm wondering if the Walmart I purchased them from will ever actually have more.... Regardless? Definitely keeping the use of reusable pod filters in my routine.
