ARTISTRO 0.2 Fineliner Pens - Are they worth it?

If you didn't notice, I'm big on pens.  Regardless of the fact I didn't manage to do as many of the Inktober prompts as I had hoped to accomplish, I did find some really good drawing pens during my September splurge session.  While I do have a few misgivings on prices based on the budget I had set for myself, I will not deny that the expense was worth it.

ANYWAY!

I am always looking for good pens (I stipple, I doodle, I crosshatch, I doodle, I doodle - I need pens, and I prefer good pens) and I think I found yet another extremely good inking pen.  Want to see 18 minutes of work crammed into less than one (1) minute of space/time with the pen?

The ARTISTRO Fineliner is an acid-free, water-based, non-toxic pen - both fade-proof and water-proof, it comes in the following sizes:

As of right this moment, I'm focusing on the 0.2.  While you can get the full set of nine (9) graded pens [I did!], the pack of two (2) in size 0.2mm is actually something you can work with without needing anything else.  Either way, my testing of the pen (as shown so far) is part of a personal project I call "TRT":

Three Random Things.

By obtaining three random things from individual people and applying them to individual pages in a 5.5"x5.5" watercolor sketchbook near the end of November, I have managed to fill out four (4) pages so far.  "Fill out" means wall-to-wall arting, not just doodles.

For the fifth page, the three random things given to me were "Cat, Barn, Flowers" -- and, because I had not used them yet, I decided to put the ARTISTRO 0.2 fineliner to work.  TRT overrode my original declaration of using them to make cards when I first obtained them.  Oh well.

So far?  My doodling with such a pen has produced this:

I do take my time and set aside my work when I feel I need to just take a break from it.  Not everyone can manage the same level of details.  Not everyone can manage the same level of grading with just one size of fineliner.  Not everyone has had 25+ years working with inks of varying levels.

I like it.  The black is deep, the flow is proper, I can personally manage both an extremely fine line as well as a thick one (as thick as a 0.2 can allow, at least!) -- and it actually glides pretty well over rough watercolor paper.

WATERCOLOR PAPER.

Want your very own?  I gift you the obligatory "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" statement and hand to you a link to purchase such.  If you're not big on Amazon, I also keep a list of art supplies on Benable that are the exact same but found in other stores (obviously the prices differ from store to store).

Happy arting! :D

P.S.  These would make excellent stocking stuffers for your art/journaling buddies; any purchases made through links provided on this site help keep this site up and running (and I know I desperately need to take a minute to breathe so I can redesign the overall look and feel of the site itself ...time is not on my side right now) -- and donations are always appreciated. <3
